RIP software for Roland printers
Sapiens CoreFlow RIP already prints on Roland. We have validated it on a Roland VersaUV LG-640 with real jobs: colour, white, varnish, layered relief and cut line, all in one file. The driver is in the integration phase and we open it project by project.
What we have already printed on Roland
This is not a compatibility promise: these are files generated by Sapiens CoreFlow RIP and printed on the machine. This is what has come out right on the VersaUV LG-640:
- Colour with the machine's own factory profile.
- White and varnish as separate planes of the job, calculated by Sapiens rather than drawn by hand.
- Layered relief: the job goes out as several successive layers in a single send, which is how height is built in UV DTF 3D.
- Cut in the same job: the cut line travels at the end of the file, after the last layer, so the machine prints and cuts without reloading anything.
- Direct network send to the printer, or save the file to send later.

No guessing: the settings come from your machine
Sapiens CoreFlow RIP writes Roland's native file directly. It does not print through a Windows driver or convert to PDF along the way, so what the RIP decides is exactly what the machine receives.
The delicate part of a Roland file is its header, which changes from one model to another. Instead of building it by hand, Sapiens imports it from a file your own machine already prints correctly and reuses its settings. So there is no guessing resolutions or modes: you start from what already works on your printer.

Does Sapiens CoreFlow RIP work with Roland?

Which Roland models?
The model validated on the machine is the Roland VersaUV LG-640. Other Roland models use the same file format, and Sapiens CoreFlow RIP takes its settings from a file from your own machine, but we do not call a model good until we have printed on it.
Can I print relief and varnish on a Roland?
Yes. Sapiens CoreFlow RIP calculates white and varnish by area and sends the relief as several layers in the same job, which is how it has been printed on the VersaUV LG-640. The final height depends on each machine's layers and varnish.
Do I need the software that comes with the machine?
To print from Sapiens CoreFlow RIP, no: the file is sent straight to the printer over the network or saved to send later. The factory software can stay installed for maintenance and the machine's own settings.
When will it be available as standard?
There is no public date. Sapiens CoreFlow RIP will include Roland as standard once it has been validated on more models. In the meantime, anyone with a Roland can join now project by project and try it on their machine.
